Directives aux auteurs-es

Frequency: biannual
Submissions: continuous flow.
Languages: English
Article Processing Charges: no charge fees for article submission, processing, or publication.
Deposit Policy: IRIE allows the deposit of preprint and postprint versions of articles in personal pages or digital repositories of open access. It is recommended to deposit preprint versions in dedicated open/non-commercial repositories, such as arXiv, e-LIS, EmeRI, LIS Scholarship Archive, SciELO Preprints, and SocArXiv. In the act of manuscript submission, where works have been previously deposited as a preprint, we ask that authors must inform IRIE, through the “Comments to the Editors” field, of the deposit date, URL, and DOI (when available) of the manuscript generated by deposit. Manuscripts of this nature will be evaluated in the single-blind model, according to IRIE Peer Review Policy.

Peer Review Process
Original articles submitted to IRIE are evaluated in the "double-blind" mode - which ensures mutual anonymity between authors and reviewers - by at least two reviewers. Case studies submitted to IRIE are evaluated first by and editor and then an anonymous reviewer.
Original Research: double anonymised review process.
Your article will usually be reviewed by at least two independent experts to assess its scientific quality. Our editors will then make the final decision regarding its acceptance, rejection or request for corrections.
Case Study: single anonymized review process.
Your article will first be reviewed by an editor who may request adjustments and corrections. it will then be sent to a reviewer for an independent evaluation by an expert on its scientific quality.
Interviews and Book Reviews: editorial review process.
The text will be reviewed by one or more editors.

When submitting consider:

  • Submitted manuscripts must be conceptually meaningful, methodologically sound, interesting, and accurate.
  • By submitting a manuscript you accept the conditions stated in the "Publication Agreement"
  • Manuscripts may be written in any language, though the language of correspondence concerning the submission is English.
  • Submitted texts must be prepared in accordance with the styling recommendations included in these Guidelines. Authors are encouraged to use the IRIE Paper Template.
  • Articles (including notes, references and bibliography) should not be longer than 3.000 words or respectively 20.000 characters (including blanks) or respectively 10 pages (in the proper format). Please note that this limitation is not an absolute maximum but more of a guideline for better readability. It can be exceeded for good reasons upon agreement with the editors of an issue.
  • In addition to the manuscript text, authors must submit 2 abstracts of no more than 100 words in both the original language and in English as well as a brief author bio and contact details in English according to the sample in the IRIE Format Guide.
  • Book Reviews should not be longer than 1.500 words, 10.000 characters or 5 pages (in the proper format) respectively, must contain complete bibliographic details including number of pages and ISBN. All book reviews should also be accompanied by brief bio about the author including contact data in English according to the sample provided in the IRIE Format Guide.
  • Authors should submit their manuscripts using the journal submission process.
  • Manuscripts that merit review will be reviewed according to the established peer review process for IRIE, as outlined herein.
  • The IRIE retains the right to make changes in accepted manuscripts that, in the opinion of the editors, do not substantially alter authors' meanings. Changes are made for grammatical, stylistic, and space considerations.
  • All sumbitted manuscripts must be fully referenced according to MLA Formatting and Style, eighth edition.

Data and Code Sharing

IRIE recommends publishing data or computer code supporting the studies reported in the manuscripts submitted for evaluation and publication. These elements should be published following the FAIR Principles and deposited in dedicated repositories of research data or open-source code, institutional or generic, such as Zenodo, GitHub, and Bitbucket. More information and other repositories are available in the Registry of Research Data Repositories (re3data).

The location of the data in the manuscript should be indicated in a specific section called “Data Availability,” as follows: “The entire [data/software] set supporting the results of this study has been made available at [repository name] and can be accessed at [URL/DOI].”
