The Ethos of the Great Bifurcation
AbstractIn the information age ethical questions are raised about the actual course of the evolution of humankind which is now at a critical crossroad – the Great Bifurcation. Values like peace, respect for nature, justice, solidarity, freedom and equality assume greater importance. They all constitute the ethos of the Great Bifurcation. This ethos has practical implications. E-policies when based on this ethos have to go beyond techno-oriented solutions in order to bring about a sustainable global information society.
